Our History

David Niguidula, Ed.D., (Founder) has been involved in educational technology projects since 1983. David led the original research on digital portfolios while managing the technology group at the Coalition of Essential Schools and Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University. His work has focused on issues of technology, assessment, and school reform.

At Brown, David also led the Educational Software Seminar - a course where teams of undergraduates worked with local teachers to create original pieces of software for the classroom.

Prior to joining the Coalition of Essential Schools, David worked on educational technology projects at the Institute for Mathematics and Science Education Development (ISMED) at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, and at the Educational Technology Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

David has held workshops across the country and served on numerous national advisory boards on educational technology. He is also the co-author (with Andries van Dam) of two programming textbooks. David received two bachelor's degrees (in computer science and education) at Brown University and his doctorate in Instructional Technology and Media at Teachers College, Columbia University.
